Sokoto Fulani of Eastern Niger

The Sokoto Fulani are a subgroup of the much larger Fulani people of West Africa. They are found in southeastern Niger and northern Nigeria. Ninety-nine percent of this people group of 480,000 follows a mixture of Islamic and traditional African beliefs. There is no Bible in their dialect; they have never heard the gospel. There has been virtually no Christian witness among them for centuries.

To clear up some confusion...

"Danejo! In English that sounds like something scary. Like when
you're driving to Konni and the oncoming bus prefers your potholes to
his - then you in Dane-jo and you better move!"

My old journeyman friend wrote me this. It's hilarious, but I wanted
to clear up the confusion as to the pronunciation of my new name.

Dahn-EH-jo is the best way I can spell it phonetically.

For those of you who are more academically inclined here is another
explanation:

"short a
e is like a long a
o is long
emphasis is on the middle syllable. "

I want to thank my participants for helping me out in explaining. The
villagers like the name change, but are still forgetting. That's okay.
